杨为慈刚结束上一轮在长桥街道近一个月的疫情防控志愿服务工作不久，3月11日，当他得知区拟组建一支青年翻译志愿者队伍，协助区街道（镇）做好与外籍人士在疫情防控期间的沟通交流和服务保障之时，他又第一时间报名加入。第二天他便马不停蹄地前往区外办报道，开展新一轮的疫情防控志愿服务工作。
他结合前期参加疫情防控的实战经验，为街道防疫工作出谋划策。徐家汇街道辖内有商务楼六十余幢，企业数近万，其中有不少外资企业。目前，外资企业正在有序恢复复生产经营，排摸与监督属地内外资企业的复工情况是近期疫情防控的重点工作之一。拥有多年海外留学生活经验的杨为慈发挥英语口语的优势，对属地内多家外资企业的复工情况电话排摸，积极向企业宣传疫情涉外防控知识，引导企业提高防护意识，积极配合防控工作。3月16日，他陪同街道领导对上海中智科技应用发展公司等重点企业进行实地走访，向企业宣传疫情期间出台的一些企业优惠扶持政策。
杨为慈积极参与各类志愿服务，先后参加过2018年世界人工智能大会和第一届进博会的志愿者。他以开朗的性格，热情的服务，为来自世界各国的朋友提供专业的帮助，用自己实际行动践行“奉献、友爱、互助、进步”的志愿精神。此次志愿服务，他和另外4名徐汇国资系统年轻的志愿者协同作战，发挥各自所长为疫情防控贡献自己的力量。他们用青春抒写力量，展现正能量，为守卫区域健康安全构建起一道青春防线。
